Bleeding Gums

Scaling & polishing, gum treatment

Bleeding gums are often a sign of gum disease – either gingivitis, whereby there is reversible inflammation of gums or periodontitis, whereby there is irreversible destruction of gum and bone. Appropriate treatment can be rendered depending on the condition of your gums.

Cracked teeth

Crowns, root canal treatment, extractions

Cracked teeth are increasingly prevalent in today’s society. They may be attributed to increased teeth grinding due to increased stress levels, accidentally biting on something too hard or biting at an awkward angle. Sharp pain and sudden hyper sensitivity of a specific tooth during biting or opening are signs of a cracked tooth. In severe cases, spontaneous throbbing pain may result. Depending on the extent of the crack, the affected tooth may require root canal treatment and/or crowning, or in severe cases, an extraction.

Shaky Teeth

Gum treatment, extractions

Shaky teeth are often due to advanced gum disease, whereby your bone and gums are unable to provide a sufficiently firm foundation for your teeth anymore. Depending on the severity, the tooth may need to undergo gum treatment or to be extracted.

Trauma to teeth

Reimplantation of teeth, splinting, root canal treatment

Should you accidentally knock out a tooth entirely, hold the tooth by the top (not the root) and immediately rinse the tooth under a tap to remove any debris (do not touch the root surface as it kills the root cells). Then place the tooth under your tongue where there is saliva for the root cells to survive, or in a container of fresh milk, and contact us immediately. Should this happen after our opening hours, please contact National Dental Centre or National University Centre of Oral Health for immediate after-hours care. Subsequently, the involved tooth may require a stabilisation splint, followed by root canal treatment.

Wisdom Teeth

Examination; removal if necessary

Wisdom teeth often come out slanted instead of straight, causing food to be trapped, leading to decay and/or gum disease. Additionally, it is difficult to brush wisdom teeth properly as they are far behind in the mouth. The need to remove wisdom teeth depends on their position and whether or not they are likely to cause future problems. Surgical removal of wisdom teeth can be subsidized by Medisave (for Singaporeans and Singapore PRs).

Bad Breath

Scaling & polishing, gum treatment, fillings

Bad breath or halitosis, is commonly due to the accumulation of bacteria and food residues in the mouth, either beneath the gums, between or within teeth. The cause of halitosis needs to be determined first, such that approrpiate treatment can be rendered.
