Wisdom teeth often come out slanted instead of straight, causing food to be trapped, leading to decay and/or gum disease. Additionally, it is difficult to brush wisdom teeth properly as they are far behind in the mouth. The need to remove wisdom teeth depends on their position and whether or not they are likely to cause future problems. Surgical removal of wisdom teeth can be subsidized by Medisave (for Singaporeans and Singapore PRs).
